Thinking Stuff
Automated Trading Software
Automated trading is no longer just for the rich or nerdy. Our revolutionary software uses your trading rules, but none of your emotions. There's just one requirement - you know how to use a mouse.

Known Bugs
If you know of a bug not listed here, or if you disagree with the priority given to one of these bugs, or perhaps you have a request for a new feature, please use the Contact Us page.

If a bug you came across is not listed below, we do not know about it! We will be very appreciative if you take the trouble to give us the details.

You can also view the Road Map, which is functionality to be added in the future, and the Change Log, which lists bugs fixed in the past.

Definitions
  • A - Really Important Bugs
These are bugs that make Thinking Stuff crash, and other really very important bugs that need to be fixed as a priority.
  • B - Not So Important Bugs
Fairly important bugs, more important than the Not Really Important Bugs (below) but not as important as the Really Important Bugs.
  • C - Not Really Important Bugs
Cosmetic things, and so forth. These bugs have no real effect on the functioning of Thinking Stuff, but fixing them would sure make it look prettier.

Bugs
General
  • B - May still be some locale problems. Please let us know if you come across any.
  • B - Still some help web pages left to write. (Currently when you click some words in underlined blue text, or some of the Help menu items, a web page will be opened telling you to contact support for help).

Charts
  • C - Commodity Channel Index calculations are the same as Oanda, but different to the 3rd-party charts module. Not very different, but it would be good to know why.

Can't Be Fixed By Us
These bugs come out of 3rd-party bits and pieces that we have no control over:
  • RateTableException, ServerDisconnectedException, etc. (Essentially anything that's a one-word error ending in "Exception"). If you receive these errors, obviously you have bought the Oanda API, because that's where these errors come from. They don't happen too often though.

  • Limit orders placed with Gain Capital may be marked as 'Cancelled' even if their corresponding trade has been opened (and therefore the order's status should be 'Entered'). This happens because Gain notifies us that the account has changed before posting the details of the trade. TS checks the account, sees that the order is now closed for some reason, but there is no trade there. TS therefore assumes the order was cancelled.

Knowing if a particular order was cancelled or entered is not considered a big deal, especially seeing that auto-trading for Gain Capital works only in their demo accounts.

  • Can't change the Charts scale type from Semi-Log without causing problems with values below 1.0000. This is a known bug with the 3rd-party charting module.

  • When loading a previously saved chart, or when using a chart template, the colour of the 'shadows' of the candles revert to green, regardless of the colour you set it to. Again, a known bug in the 3rd-party charting module.

  • A couple of computers receive the following error while using functions on the Command Centre:

ERROR: could not open relation 1663/16907/2601: Invalid argument.

This error occurs only for a few computers running TS, and there is some anecdotal evidence suggesting that the anti-virus software on those machines (eTrust EZ Antivirus and CA Antivirus known so far) has issues with PostgreSQL.

If there is such a thing, try to add Thinking Stuff and PostgreSQL to an "Allow List", otherwise you can find some recommendations for freeware anti-virus programs at the Tech Support Alert site. For more detailed instructions, or if all that fails, please contact us.

This error occurs about once per hour, and its effect is minimal - the failed process counts down again, and the next run always seems to work fine.
