Hi All,
I'm new to TS and may have many questions - but I'll give a quick intro - I've been trying to create a robot for the last year or so - my colleague (software writer) has been regularly thwarted by the vagaries of the FXCM data stream and internet connections. I have a strategy that should be quite profitable when correctly implemented.
My system requires to monitor ALL (FXCM) currency pairs // symbols // instruments in parallel and in real time; - A trade is to be placed when any symbol conforms to a universal set of sequential rules and condititions.
Entry, Stop and Limit values are automatically set subsequent to the identification of a potential trade.
Placed orders may be cancelled before entry subject to additional rulings or conditions.
So; my initial questions: -
1/ Does the above outline appear to be a strategy that TS ATM // ATE could handle?
2/ Which data source does TS use?
3/ What is the source time delay?
4/ Are practice // demo accounts available?
5/ Is one's strategy GENUINELY private and secure?
6/ The age of philanthropy became extinct decades ago - so what maintains TS?
That's enough questions for now, I look forward to responses...
I'll install ATM and commence exprimentation. Thanks, Bebbspoke

Cheers, John

Hello and welcome. I will

Hello and welcome. I will try to answer your questions below:

1. There are a variety of ways you could potentially monitor all symbols, etc. But 1 trading system can only trade in 1 currency. So you could have multiple trading systems all with similar rules but trading in their own currency. Or you could create a synthetic pair which takes in prices from as many currencies as you like and use standard technical analysis on that synthetic pair. But again that trading system can only trade in 1 currency.

2. TSATM can grab real-time prices from FXCM only. But it can load prices from text files from a variety of sources.

3. There's no price delay - TSATM will grab the prices as soon as they come through from FXCM.

4. Yes you can use your demo FXCM account.

5. There are only 2 things which TSATM reports back to base, and you can switch them off. That is (a) when you start TSATM. I don't particularly use this information in any useful way, but it's good to see that people are using it. And (b) error messages, so that I can fix problems without you needing to contact me at all. Go to the Options section to turn those on or off.

6. Nothing maintains it other than my savings, which is why work on TSATM has paused. I have gone back to real work. While I continue to think of the direction that TSATM should take from here, as of right now I haven't touched it for 6 months. You can continue using it for backtesting for free as long as you like.
